Decorative concrete is how an Owatonna homeowner gets the look of natural stone or pavers without the price tag and the weed-filled joints that come with them. Color is where the look really lives, and we treat it carefully. Integral color, mixed into the concrete itself, is the permanent base because it runs all the way through and cannot wear off. A release or antiquing color broadcast at stamping time adds the depth and variation that makes a stamped slab read like real stone instead of a rubber mat. For accents or a second tone, surface stains layer over the top. We pour a sample so you see the cured combination in your own daylight before the truck rolls, because color on a phone screen and color cured on a hundred square feet are two different things.

The seal is not optional in Minnesota and we say so up front. Road salt, snow-melt chemicals and UV will fade unsealed decorative concrete within a couple of Owatonna winters. We apply a penetrating sealer after the pour cures and lay out a simple re-seal schedule, usually every three years, so the color and the texture hold for the long run. A sealed, integral-colored, properly based slab is a twenty-year surface, not a two-year one.

Cracked or pitted concrete, though, has to come out first, because an overlay over bad concrete just hides the problem for a season.
